Rio House is located on a sloping, narrow lot in the hills above Rio de Janeiro. The design takes advantage of North and South exposures for light, views, and circulation. The three story house is arranged as a series of boxes that cascade down the steep site.
Boxes for living and work areas are piled on top of each other above the street level garage. These spaces are partially embedded into the abutting hill.
