Hamptons House

Post Postmodernism

This addition to an existing  Shingle-style home in the Hamptons enjoys the mashup of contemporary design against the backdrop of local traditions. To create a new guest suite and gym, an existing roof is extended and then chopped off to reveal a glass curtain wall. In the process, the peculiar shape of the roof is revealed and celebrated. Along the home’s Western side a glass pavilion is tucked under an existing roof to create an outdoor bar and gathering space.
