After 12 successful years, principals Matthias Hollwich and Marc Kushner are creating two separate practices to focus on their core areas of specialty. Founded in 2007, Hollwich Kushner came to public attention after winning the MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program in 2012 with their design Wendy. Matthias Hollwich, who acted as lead designer during the firm’s tenure, will now continue the legacy with HWKN, his next architectural venture. Marc Kushner will lead a new firm called Major.
At HWKN, we create unforgettable architecture by designing from the outside in, shaping spaces that turn buildings into social activators, identity markers, and happiness enhancers. The creative strategy is extended into the inside of the building, introducing new operational typologies. From communal living, longevity housing, trans-disciplinary work spaces, to ingenious art scapes. Here the future of real estate is taking shape, creating buildings for generations to come.
